ABOUT THE HOTEL
Family Legacy
AZUR LEGACY COLLECTION HOTEL
The Azur Legacy Collection Hotel's core value is a commitment to providing exceptional experiences and prioritizing the needs of its guests.
HISTORY OF FAMILY LEGACY
Farida and Noordin Sayani migrated to Vancouver, BC, in 1971. Farida, a stay-at-home mom at the time, focused on raising her two children and pursuing her interest in art, while Noordin established a development company constructing housing, apartment buildings, and commercial projects in Vancouver and Seattle. Many of Farida’s captivating artworks now grace the walls of Executive Hotels, with her artistic vision significantly contributing to the success of the first Executive Hotel.
In 1986, the couple expanded into the hospitality sector, undertaking the planning, construction, and opening of their first All-Suite hotel in Richmond, Vancouver. This boutique hotel, comprising suites, stood as a testament to Noordin’s exceptional development skills and Farida’s charisma, along with her discerning eye for color, design, and texture. Over the next decade, three more hotels were developed in Vancouver and Seattle.
Farida started her career in hospitality as the managing director of four Executive hotels. Due to her relentless hard work and detailed hands-on management style, the hotels achieved instant success.
The name “Executive Inn” transitioned into the Executive Group Corporation, founded by their son Salim in 1998. Since then, the hotel portfolio has grown to include 20 hotels under Executive Hotels and Resorts.
HISTORY OF HOSPITALITY
At the heart of Farida’s remarkable journey in the hospitality industry lies a set of core values that define her success. With a commitment to taking care of her team and recognizing the symbiotic relationship between employee well-being and exceptional guest experiences, she embodies a culture of care and integrity. Her pursuit of excellence is exemplified through the delivery of superior customer service at a fair price.
Notably, Farida’s entrepreneurial prowess, showcased in her adept management of multiple hotels, earned her the prestigious YWCA Women of Distinction Award in 1998.
However, her impact extends far beyond the business realm as she actively engages in philanthropy. She dedicates significant time and effort to the continuous support of organizations such as BC Women’s Hospital NICU Campaign, the Board of BC Cancer Foundation, the Millennium Campaign for Cancer Research Centre, Emily Carr Foundation, Aga Khan National Council, SFU Indian Initiative Board, and the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Farida manifests steadfast dedication to making a positive difference in the communities she touches, truly embodying the spirit of responsible entrepreneurship.
THE FINAL LEGACY OF THE FOUNDERS
The AZUR Legacy Collection Hotel stands as a final legacy project, curated by Farida, drawing on her 37 years of hospitality experience, and her husband Noordin, leveraging his 52 years of expertise in development. Building upon a heritage of excellence, a 13-story Art-Deco hotel with a custom-designed rooftop restaurant on the 14th floor has been meticulously crafted on a challenging site in the heart of downtown Vancouver. With Farida’s experience and a deep understanding of color, texture, and design, a warm and elegant space has been created in the 104-room AZUR Legacy Collection Hotel. Her personal touch is evident in every aspect of the hotel, from the outstanding building clad with imported stone and a brass entry door to the hand-picked art pieces sourced from local and international artists. This infusion of carefully selected elements adds a sense of understated luxury to the building.
